About Jordan
When I was a child I loved singing. I still remember how good it felt in my body and spirit – the magical portal to another world a song would open. But very early on, like so many of us, I learned I was not a “good” singer. And so I stopped singing. For years I would carry the label of being a “bad” singer as a truth.
Fast Forward – a childhood, adolescence and young adulthood lived; 3 children later – I rediscovered the magical portal of singing again. This time it was in women’s circles and community circles and singing was immensely healing. It gave me a sense of wholeness, wellbeing and belonging. And so I slowly began to sing. And as I did, I learned to trust a new truth – we are all singers, our voices are our original instruments and they are all beautiful. And as I tried on this truth, and sang more often and in different spaces, I witnessed the transformation in myself and others.
This love of singing together as women – as our most original and ancient practice – is what brought me to Singing Mamas. I am so excited to provide mothers and women with the space to sing together, to support each other’s well-being, and to feel that sense of belonging. As a new mother, a tired mother, a busy mother, I could have used this support!
More about me:
I am a mother of three wonderful children. I am a therapist and work with people navigating grief, loss and life transitions. I love facilitating groups and have done so for over two decades – including mother-mother breastfeeding support groups, women’s circles, mid-life transition circles, and grief groups. I am a trained meditation teacher (Vipassana and Zen traditions), love learning from plants, and creating jewelry, potions and other magical things.
I am so excited to sing with you!
